if you're looking for justice, look some place else.
I agree with others, if you seek justice or give your reason, save your breath. White Plains loves the revenue stream this Court brings to its beautiful city. Over 2.5 million a year in fines paid. While in line waiting talked to a few people and we all basically shared same story. No reason for being pulled over, but "multiple" tickets issued and then they dismiss one ticket and you pay for one. $$$$$$$ all about the money!
Long wait time. Received a reduced ticket fee by the nice cop who checked my paperwork. The judge in the other hand was a jerk. They want their money so getting an extension to pay is like pulling teeth. Its not impossible because really who knows how much the fee is going to be until you see the judge. They expect you to have all the funds the same day. Judge makes you WAIT for EVERYBODY to be seen before addressing the payment extension. He didnt care that my car was in a meter.
These clowns will do anything for a your buck, even put honest cops in a position to perjure themselves. Disgusting. I felt bad for the cop having to come up with some story for the judge to rule the way she wanted, even though everyone in the room knew it was unnecessary and untrue. One of the "respected" court officers bullied me outside of the court room, in a presence of another plaintiff! Apparently "Courtesy, Professionalism, Respect" is not in their dictionary.
I've had two decent experiences here. My cases were either dismissed or substantially reduced. The judges seem relatively fair; expecting to get out of everything isn't reasonable, but expecting them to work with you is. As far as parking tickets, if you committed the violation, you're going to wind up paying. But in the case of an expired registration or inspection, if you get your car registered/inspected immediately after you get the ticket, and you bring in documentation showing that you were on top of it, they seemed to be letting people off for that. The court officers and clerks were kind of nuetral in my experiences, not particularly friendly, not rude either.
